Hiya, my name is Kayleigh. My dad named me after an 80's song about heartbreak, which was kind of him, I guess. I never thought about it, but I wonder how my mom felt about that. On the other hand, they were ahead of their time. Now every other two year old is some ugly variation of my name.

My name is Kayleigh and I'm a photographer from California. Not the part with the beautiful people or the sunny beaches, but the chunk in the central area, where there're mostly trees and stuff. Which is good, because I like trees better than I like beautiful people.

Anyways, I like taking pictures. I'm probably not the next Avedon or Adams or what-have-you, but I'm okay, I guess. I want to be better. I'm currently a photo student working towards her BA, and then I get the joy of attempting my MFA. I could be all blasé about it and be all like, "yeah, I do photography 'cause I couldn't think of anything better." Yeah, right. No. I do this shit because it kicks ass. Like, seriously. There is nothing cooler in this entire world, except possibly the way owl eyes work.

So I guess I have that going for me. I really, really love what I do.

It's funny. When I was growing up I wanted to be a graphic designer or a director or a lounge singer or something. I always knew I was probably going to spend my life poor and suffering and all that, but I figured I could at least afford rent. Yeah. And then I got into photography, and now what do I want to be? A fine artist. Oh my god. I am going to be homeless. Forever.

So anyways, I like taking pictures. I like taking pictures of everything. I like people. I like bugs. I like that couch someone left on the side of the highway - except I'm too chickenshit and I brought the wrong lens and I don't want to get run over and blah blah blah.

This is a work in progress. My life is a work in progress. I'll figure it out eventually. Maybe when I'm living in Iceland learning to communicate with elves. Yeeeeeah.
